When I first walked into Steamie Weenie, I found the atmosphere to be a very hip and cool vibe. I stared at the wiener dog graffiti on the side wall as I looked over their extensive menu. Their menu is made up of two lists of hot dog choices, New Tricks and Old Classics. A few of the Old Classics are named after cities where the hot dogs originated, such as: “Coney Island” and “Windy City”. The New Tricks combinations are less traditional, such as: “The Everything Bagel Dog” and “PBB&J”. I was initially drawn in by their flavor combinations, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that any of their dogs can be substituted for their field roast vegan frankfurter.
Due to the fact that they have a lot of possible dog combinations, I chose one that I knew I would end up liking no matter what. I chose their “Mac & Cheese & Cheese” with the vegan frankfurter (the bun and mac and cheese is not vegan, only the frankfurter).
I also ordered a side of crinkle-cut fries and steamy sauce (fry sauce) to dip my fries in. They also have a full case of old fashioned soda, and I picked the cream soda to try.
They make everything fresh for you, and it is worth the wait. When I tasted my vegan frankfurter piled high with mac and cheese and cheddar cheese, I was in heaven. I never would of thought that mac and cheese would be so perfect on my vegan dog. I am also obsessed with their large crinkle-cut fries with the steamie sauce. The steamie sauce is tasty and a bit strong, and a little goes a long way. I would recommend Steamie Weenie to anyone who is looking for great food and an out of the box eating experience.
UPDATE: I had to blog about Steamie Weenie because I have eaten here three times since these photos were taken. I find myself making excuses to take the trip to Henderson, just so that I can taste that vegan frankfurter again!
Steamie Weenie is located at 1500 N. Green Valley Parkway #130 Henderson, NV 89074.
