Sit Down Casual

I love this idea of gourmet burgers, because I refuse to eat fast food burgers.  Obviously the gourmet burger is made with fresher ingredients than a fast food burger.  That is why I love going to Smashburger and Twisted Root Burger (which I have a reviewed).  At these restaurants, it is easy to eat vegetarian because you can substitute a black bean patty with any of their burger combinations!  I usually enjoy a good mushroom and Swiss cheese black bean burger every once in a while.

When we got to Smashburger, I was going to get my usual Truffle Mushroom Swiss (truffle mayo, sautéed crimini mushrooms & aged Swiss on an egg bun).  But then I saw something on the menu that really caught my eye, the Spinach, Cucumber and Goat Cheese burger.  I was intrigued, and decided to place my order for one as soon as possible (with a black bean patty of course!).

When my burger came, it looked delicious.  I added a little ketchup and put the bun top on, and I was ready for the first bite.

I loved the taste of the black bean patty with the feta cheese.  I am in this feta loving phase of my life and this checked all the right boxes for me.  It was the perfect burger, and the flavor combinations were really spot on.  I loved the taste of the whole wheat bun, and all the vegetables together.

I also ordered a side of Veggie Frites (fresh green beans & carrot strips, flash fried).  These things are to die for! I know that if you fry anything, it will automatically taste a lot better. The fried green beans were my favorite, because I felt like some of the carrots were not cooked all the way through.  After eating these, it makes me want to fry some green beans at home!  They came with a side of ranch, but I didn’t dip all of them in it.  Veggie Frites are a healthier alternative to french fries, but they are still fried so remember that.

I would recommend Smashburger to all the vegetarians out there who want a great black bean patty, they “smash” it fresh on their grill every time (it is not a frozen patty).  The salads at Smashburger also look amazing, but when I go to a burger place I feel like it’s a waste to order a salad.  To make your burger more healthy, you have the choice of ordering a lettuce wrap instead of a bun.  Smashburger is a great place to go if you want to eat dinner with meat eating friends (or husbands).

The Smashburger that I went to is located at 4980 Belt Line Road, Addison, TX 75254.
