Pappasito’s Cantina

Pappasito’s Cantina was celebrating the Hatch Chile Festival from August 15 to September 1st.  I am a huge fan of the Hatch Chile fest, and am sad when it is over.  This year, many restaurants and supermarkets celebrated with Hatch food and menus.  These include but are not limited to, Blue Mesa, Pappasito’s, Central Market and Whole Foods.  I reviewed the Blue Mesa hatch fest on another blog post.

Pappasito’s is owned by the Pappas company, that also owns Pappadeaux, Pappas Bros Steakhouse, and Pappas Bar-B-Q. This restaurant chain is all around the Dallas area, and they are often located right next to each other.  All of the Pappas restaurants have a high standard for food and service.

Pappasito’s is one of the best mexican restaurants that I have ever been to, even though they do not have many vegetarian options.  The few (but good!) vegetarian options are the quesadillas (with no meat) or the cheese enchiladas plate.  I have tried both of these dishes are they great.  I also enjoy their tortilla machine, where they show how they make tortillas out in the open.

Their chips and salsa are amazing.  The chips are crispy, flaky, thin and just the way I like them.  The salsa is flavorful but not too spicy.

Off of the Hatch chile fest menu, I ordered the hatch chile quesadilla. We also ordered the hatch chile queso.  The queso came out first and had great flavor.  The only negative was the huge hatch chile pieces that were swimming around and would never fit on my chip.

The hatch quesadilla finally came and it was very tasty.  It was one of the best quesadillas that I have ever tasted, and I have tried a lot. The crispy tortilla and the cheese/hatch mixture was an amazing combination for my mouth. I hate the whole thing…and I am not embarrassed to say that.

My husband got the hatch chile rellanos and he said that they were very good.

I would recommend Pappasito’s to anyone, even though the vegetarian choices are very slim.  The dishes that I mentioned above are of great quality and flavor, and I look forward to my next visit.

The Pappasito’s location that I visited is 10433 Lombardy Ln., Dallas, TX 75220.
