Mughlai – Fine Indian Cuisine

DSCN3590This is probably not a news flash to most vegetarians, but most Indian food is meat free.  I love being able to go to an Indian restaurant and being able to order most of the items on the menu. In my opinion, Indian food makes American food seem boring in comparison because of all the spice combinations.DSCN3591I just so happened to dine at Mughlai on Monday July 28, 2014 when millions of Muslims across the world celebrated the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the month long fast of Ramadan.  I was curious as to why the lunch buffet was so packed, and they informed us that it was a special holiday feast.

My plate of Indian curries and rice.

I enjoyed a large plate of an assortment of vegetarian curries and rice. My favorite bread is called Naan, and it is baked in a tandoor oven and comes with butter on top. My husband and I like to frequent Mughlai because it is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Dallas area. The dishes that I enjoy the most when I dine there are the vegetable samosas (fried vegetables and Indian spices) and the Navratan Korma. Everything that I try at Mughlai is always amazing and flavorful.

I had Sewian Kheer for dessert, which is rice pudding flavored with cardamom and saffron. Another one of my favorite Indian desserts is Gulab Jamun, which is caramalized cheese dumplings soaked in cardamom flavored syrup.

Kheer Indian pudding.

I would recommend any vegetarian to try Indian food if you haven’t for the first time. It was truly life changing for me, because now American food cannot even compare!

Mughlai is located at 3501 Alpha Road, Suite 14, Dallas.
